Join the winter egg share

Through the winter, our hens need extra feed, light, and care to stay warm and healthy. Their laying slows with the shorter days, but we continue to tend them daily—making sure they’re cozy, well-fed, and thriving through the cold months. By joining our Winter Egg Share, you’re helping us care for our flock and sustain the rhythms of this small farm when everything else goes quiet. Your support keeps the hens happy, the farm humming, and a bit of sunshine on your breakfast table all winter long. ☀️🐓

Why Winter Pricing Is a Little Higher

Our hens usually lay steadily through the winter, though they slow down when the days are short and the weather turns bitter. Each week, we’ll gather what the flock gifts us and set aside a dozen (or two) for you. If we ever have a week when laying drops too low, we’ll make it up to you—with an extra dozen when production picks back up in spring, or a substitute from the farm (like honey, herbal tea, or another treat from the larder). This is the beauty of eating seasonally—it connects us to the true rhythms of nature and the generosity of the hens who live here.

what to expect

  • Season: November 15th thru March 7 (16 weeks)
  • Pickup: Saturdays, 9–12pm, at the farm (self-serve cooler available for flexibility) + occasional Fridays, 3-4pm at Hawthorne Valley Farm Store parking lot
  • Shares: 1 dozen is $140 for the season, 2 dozen is $280
  • Payment: Full season upfront (or $38 or $74/month for 4 months)

HOW IT WORKS

When the farmstand closes for the season, our hens keep working quietly through the cold months, gifting us with their golden-yolked eggs. Their laying slows down in winter, but we’d love to make sure those who want them can count on a weekly supply—and help keep our chickens (and our farm) thriving until spring.

This winter, we’re inviting a small circle of neighbors to join our Winter Egg Share—a cozy, community-supported way to stay nourished and connected to the farm until spring.
